The Paladin is a Tank Type unit unlocked at Player Level 6.
Description: “The large shield can defend from all kinds of attacks. The shield can reduce damage and defend against combustion, poison and freeze attacks.”
Paladin is an often essential unit that can take more damage than any other unit in the game. It has high amount of HP (besides its damage reduction) and a fair attack damage. The only cons are that it’s movement and attack speed are very slow. Due to the immense survivability of this unit, it is almost indestructible with a healer unit aiding it. Due to the 80% damage reduction, each heal effect from a healer will effectively repair 900 damage taken.
Paladin‘s shield can reduce 80% of the taken damage, granting immunity to three status changes, like the description states: damaging type, like combustion and poison, and debuff type, like freeze, that greatly slows down units and reduce the damage they deal to enemies or buildings. That makes it perfect to decoy the attention of enemy defense artilleries, and can survive for quite a lot of time even if more than one artillery is shooting at him (with the shield on of course).
However, they’re still affected by paralysing attacks (like electric trap mine or lightning tower). Moreover, the shield can be blasted away by wind cannons, Blast Gunner and Samurai's Iai skill, leaving Paladin vulnerable.
Barbarian Shield: trades a small amount of HP for significantly faster movement speed. At higher levels, the cost of the unit is reduced.
Energy Shield: increases hitpoints but slows down attacks a lot, after level 2 also give paralyze. At higher levels, the cost of the unit is reduced.

Demon Mask Shield: increases HP a bit and AP significantly, but costs more, also give Shield Penetration at level 3. Gains a large attack radius and then Counter Attack at higher levels.

Gold Shield: largely decreases HP and greatly decreases AP, but at a much lower cost. However, it also grants a force field ability, which grants the shield buff upon deployment.
